On May 11th, 2016, Huawei Ghana held the grand opening of its new Ghana office in Accra. Chinese Ambassador to Ghana H.E. Mdm. Sun Baohong was invited to attend and delivered a speech. H.E. Kwesi Amissah-Arthur, Vice President of Ghana, the Hon. Mr. Felix Kwakye Ofosu, Deputy Minister of Communications, Economic and Commercial Counsellor Li Jiang also attended this event.
In her speech, Ambassador Sun highly commended Huawei for its entrepreneurship and innovative spirit, win-win cooperation concept and high sense of mission. Ambassador Sun also introduced the new features of bilateral trade and economic cooperation between China and Ghana, and emphasized to further promote the China-Ghana economic cooperation to a new level based on the 5-point concept of development (i.e. innovation, coordination, green development, openness and inclusiveness). Ambassador Sun expressed her appreciation for the Ghanaian government’s support to Huawei Ghana, and hope that Ghanaian government will make constant efforts to improve the business environment and provide facilities to Chinese enterprises operating in Ghana.
In his speech, the Vice President described Huawei’s increased investment in Ghana and the establishment of the multi-purpose office complex as a “vote of confidence in the Ghanaian economy”, and urged other companies to emulate the initiative. The Vice President observed that the opening of the office complex, which follows the commissioning of the Cape Coast Stadium, fully financed by the Chinese government, would further entrench the bilateral and economic relations between Ghana and China. The Vice President also expressed Ghanaian government’s commitment to the partnership with China, and assured Huawei and other Chinese companies of government’s cooperation and support.
After sod-cutting, Ambassador Sun and Economic and Commercial Counsellor Li Jiang accompanied the Vice President and other government officials to visit the new office.
